MOVE FROM BLOCKED TO FLOWING:
A SOmATIC APPROACH TO
CREATIVE WRITING

TIME: 90 MInutes
WHERE: ZOOM
WHEN: SATURDAY, 22 AuGUST AT 10AM (NZ Time)
COST: $80 NZ (That's about $47 US)

That's what we're led to believe.

Yet as a creative being, you've probably already realised  that creating strict structure and routine doesn't automatically translate to creative flow.

Especially if you're struggling with:
- An overthinking mind
- A busy life pulling you in all sorts of directions
- An overwhelmed nervous system

If there's one thing I know for sure as someone who has helped numerous people get out of writer's block and into writing flow, it's that you can’t get back into flow by thinking or battling our way through it.

We have to re-focus on the body to calm down the tension — which might present like overwhelm, scattered thoughts and a lack of focus, accusatory thoughts ("you're not a writer anyway"),  anxiety, exhaustion or lethargy.

Then, we have to tap into that wise, deep part of you that already knows how to get you through the blockages and back into imagination, intuition - and your most creative writing yet.

Hey, blocked or aspiring writer! I'm Danielle Heyns, Embodied Writing Coach

If you just sat your butt down in a chair and wrote, or were stricter about your writing time, you'd be able to write, right?

YES, PLEASE!

To get our of writer's block, stop procrastinating and start writing that passion project, you've tried it all:

Time management techniques like the pomodoro method. Only to find yourself staring at a blinking cursor. annoyed by the ticking sound of that angry tomato.

Popular mindset strategies for 'beating' or ‘destroying' writer's block. But your mind ended up beating YOU - telling you you'll never finish a manuscript, or you're not a writer anyway.

Writing courses aimed at refining your technique or plotting out your story - save the cat, show don't tell. But it just sucked the joy and creativity out of your writing. (Isn't creativity supposed to be fun?!)

Following famous writers' routines, but you fell asleep because 5 o' clock in the morning is just too damn early and besides, you suspect most of them had a Mrs Writer in the background to look after the household & kids while they wrote in bed all day.

Random writing prompts. And they got your creative juices flowing for a bit, but what you wrote felt disconnected from a larger project that you're actually passionate about.

Because despite what we learn in academia, the corporate world. popular mindset approaches or paint-by-numbers writing classes...

You remember a time when the hours melted away as you immerse yourself in the creation process.

A time when writing (or creating something else) felt like: .
- Ease
- Calm
- A fun adventure
- Pure creative bliss
- A means of self-expression
- A way to connect with your imagination
- A way to explore your lived experiences

You're not wrong. You just need to find your way back there.

Because...

And if there's this niggle telling you, 'this isn't how you create', you're right.

Because writer's block lives in your body and nervous system

And you can't expect to create when you're at war with your own body.

That's why popular mindset or technique-based approaches to creative writing often fail.

Forcing yourself to sit your butt down in a chair and write, follow some famous dead writer's morning routine or copy some writing formula doesn't help because you're still trying to write from a contracted state.

Writer's block isn't something
to 'beat' or 'destroy' with
better self-discipline

Creativity can't happen from a state of white-knuckling, forcing or contraction.

That's why in this 90-minute workshop, we will explore the power of awareness, breathwork and somatic movement to: get in touch with your:

Intuition

Imagination

Ideas (without censoring)

Feelings (without judging whether they're good or bad )

Life experiences

The story that you really want to tell

Unique writer's voice

This workshop is for you if:

You're a blocked writer who has managed to start some projects or even finished some in the past but now, every time you sit down to write, your mind starts racing and you think of five other things to do instead.

You're not an experienced writer but you've always had this urge to write... and it's becoming louder. Yet you don't how to start connecting with your story.

You want to make time for your writing, but it's like all the joy and creativity has been tapped out of the writing process. Wasn't creativity supposed to be fun?

You wish writing could be less formulaic and more of an adventure. You'd love to learn how to tap into your intuition and imagination.

You'd love to use writing as a way to connect with yourself, your voice and your story

You're open to somatic movement and a body-focused, feeling-welcoming approach to writing that will help connect you to your creativity in a deeper way.

This is not just a glorified sales pitch

It's an actual, 'get your pen out and make some creative writing magic happen' workshop.

Yeah, I, too have sacrificed way too many precious lunchtimes and weekend hours for so-called where the teaching was thin and we didn't actually get to practice or EXPERIENCE anything of value.

This is not that.

I created this workshop as a way for you to:

- Learn the difference between creating structure and moving into writing flow. Because way too many people are taught that when you create the structure, the creativity will magically follow. And when that doesn't happen, it's normal to feel creatively thwarted.

- Identify your unique type/s of creative blocks, and get some practical Embodied Writing tips and rituals based on that, to take into your everyday writing life.

- Experience two Embodied Writing practices using somatic movement, breathwork and awareness as a way to calm your nervous system and bring your attention to your inner world, where imagination lives

- At the end of the workshop, I will give you the opportunity to sign up for further coaching with me at a discounted rate as  a thank-you for signing up for my workshop (you can go away and think about it.)  But if you only do the workshop, you'll get heaps of value out of that.

Testimonial

In others' words...

- Kristine Jensen-Smith, Colorado, USA

Danielle's workshop was just what I needed to jumpstart me into really sounding my voice more strongly and clearly.

Usually it is so hard to write, but this time I picked up pen and paper and the words just flowed.

I could so relate to all of what we talked about and loved learning about the superpower of each of our blocked responses.

Being in a space with others who are feeling similarly was deeply nourishing to my soul. There is magic in the chemistry of everyone coming together, bringing their unique selves into the space.

Thank you, thank you for providing that space and helping us open our voices up! A juicy newsletter followed immediately and has already been sent out.

The power of working with Danielle is in the safety she provides. She knew exactly the right questions to ask, to peel my layers away - and I there were so many that I had a protective shell!

I found the narrative that I was initially afraid to own - even thought that was exactly the story that wanted to come out - and that for me was the catalyst for becoming an empowered writer, woman, coach and leader.

Since working with Danielle, sharing my story and owning its power has been amazing. I feel like she freed me as a coach in this process of us working together.

When I first set out sharing more about myself in writing, I went into freeze mode. It’s such a vulnerable feeling, being seen. It kicked up a lot of shame, and fear of rejection. Sometimes it's painful to go back to certain places, so when someone comes along who can take you there safely, that’s so helpful.

The way Danielle helped me craft the truth of what happened to me, and how that led to my coaching career, is so beautiful - and I love that I was able to convey my humor in my writing too.

I was able to craft a narrative that was true and could connect with my readers.  What's more, it's has given me a competitive edge as a coach.

"Danielle is a skilled practitioner in the realms of embodied expression & creative copywriting. If you're seeking a Feminine Embodiment Coach to help you express your most potent self while relaxing any resistance that might (inevitably) arise along the way, I'd highly recommend working with Danielle."

Jenna Ward, founder of The School of Embodied Arts

Is this only for experienced or published writers?

Not at all. Writing is for everyone. If you have the urge to write but feel overwhelmed by the writing process, or disconnected from what wants to be expressed through you, I'd love to help you find your way back into writing flow.

Frequently asked guestions

I'm not sure if I have a book in me, or want to be a published author. Is this for me?

Of course! People write for all sorts of reasons - for the creativity, for self-expression and for the therapeutic benefits. It's also a great way to make sense of experiences that happened to us. Whether you're journalling or still experementing with what you want to write, I'd love to help you tap into your creativity.

I'm a healer or coach who wants to connect with my clients through writing in an authentic way. Will this be helpful for me?

For sure! Being an coach and a copywriter (of 20 years) myself, I've helped many coaches, healers and entrepreneurs who want to sound like themselves and not some AI marketing bot, to get out of writer's block and connect on a cellular-wisdom level with their dream clients. It's common to get blocked in the marketing process- we get so many messages that writing has to sound salesy or like corporate speak. I believe you can connect much better with your dream clients if you sound like yourself and not like some sales bro. And to do that, you have to connect with yourself first. I'd love to help you do that.
